About James

James McAnally is a writer, editor, curator and artist based in St. Louis, MO. Foregrounding the prefigurative possibilities of the institution, the futures and histories of artist-centric practices and the figure of the critic-as-strategist in the midst of our unfurling political crises, his eclectic output takes the form of publications, exhibitions, ephemeral actions, site-conditional criticism, and theory.

He is a co-founder and curator of The Luminary, a co-founder and editor of Temporary Art Review and a part of the artist collaborative US English. He is a founding member of Common Field, as well as a recent recipient of the Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Award for Short-Form Writing.
