Robby Herbst is an interdisciplinary artists and writer from Los Angeles. His work engages with contemporary and historic experiments in socio-political aesthetics. His 2016 project New New Games, supported by Bay Area arts Institutions Southern Exposure and the Headlands Center For the Arts, examined the history and influence of the 1970’s era New Games Movement through publication, discussions, a reunion, and two games festivals. Additionally a drawing exhibition of related imagery was held at Commonwealth & Council Gallery in Los Angeles. He’s the initiator of the Llano Del Rio Collective, publishing critical “guides” to Southern California, and a founding editor of the Journal Of Aesthetics & Protest. He’s been a contributing writer for KCET’s Artbound program, a professor at USC, Goddard College, Otis College, and visiting artist at CalState Los Angeles. He’s a recipient of a Warhol Artist Writers Grant, a Provisions Library Research Grant, and the Graue Award.
